Two excellent excellent sites resurrected in a week. It's more like Easter than Christmas. Welcome back, Geoff.

The website header has an instant client side redirect [simple HTML code] which gives the original site prominence for 2 seconds before it redirects you to the desired site [the petitions site].

Either done deliberately by site owner or hacked I would say.

    Regards
    Hugh

I think a redirect from the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge would be a bit more appropriate...

This is a non-political site as far as I know so any links to his website should be disabled until such time as he abides by the rules...otherwise it's open season for every arse to start grinding their particular Brexit axe....there are other forums and Facebook pages descending into anarchy and chaos because of this, without this forum going down that route too!

This country is currently locked in a Civil War, it may be a cold war at the moment, but that does not make it any less of a Civil War. If it comes to this forum, friendships will be broken and enmities made that will never be forgiven! So, his links should be disabled until he stops abusing the privilege afforded to him by the good graces of the site Admins and the wider membership.

    Good evening Old Git,

The links are not of my doing, so there are no rules I have broken, or need to abide by. I've already informed Adam that the search engine will probably not return, so yes please remove links.
I set up my website to run the search engine, years ago, as my freebie site did not run scripts. (having just 'scraped' six and and a half million web pages, to get the data). So here I am, 10 years and 500 quid later. I did say it would close in 2018 (can't find my post on this, it's here somewhere) but I kept it open after CWGC dumbed down their data entry. They had a good system, hence my decision to close in 2018. (plus renewal fees and SSL certificate needed and pending retirement). Last year I added a function to use my data entry form to directly search the current CWGC WW1 data on their website (there is a simple URL interface). It was tedious to modify it, so I never found the time or interest to update the WW2 version. A loss to the wider membership.
The search engine has never been monetized, there are no adverts or demands for payment, so there is no abuse of privilege from the links on any website to the search engine. I don't benefit in any way from its use (other than the warm glow of the web counter)
I don't visit here often, simply because I have nothing more to offer. My last visit was to grab some documents from a RCAF Halifax which crashed on our patch 75 years ago last month.
Have a great 2019, I'll go and grind my arse elsewhere.

    With heavy heart.

Links killed as best I can.
(Will try and do that more neatly later.)

Sub-forum threads moved to War Cemeteries & Memorial Research sub.
    Sub removed.

    Onwards & upwards.
