Hello Chris I hope you dont mind I have chased CWGC re the below possible burial found Ruislip St Martins.Your query was 5 years ago. They are chasing this up.I have been there to try to find his grave but there are many that are weather worn and names not legible Lieutenant BATH, HUBERT EDWIN Service Number 216894 Died 18/01/1947 Somerset Light Infantry
Still on the outstanding list Clive. I personally cannot think why as this is a clear case for a special memorial.
Agree Chris I await a reply as you know they are pretty good at getting back but slow on getting things done due to paperwork etc
Reply from CWGC Just to confirm that the grave found case for Hubert Edwin Bath is still at the investigation stage, but please be assured that we will let you know at such point as there are any developments.
Hello Chris I chased CWGC again your, findings in 2014 have now been confirmed. I am pleased to confirm that following investigations and a visit to Ruislip (St. Martin) Churchyard Extension by one of the Commission’s Regional Supervisors, it has been confirmed that Lieutenant Bath is buried in this churchyard. This information has been added to our website and I have taken the liberty of including below a link to the relevant page: Casualty However, as the grave is not marked, and the exact position cannot be determined with certainty, we will be seeking to install a special memorial headstone within the churchyard. This style of headstone would commemorate Lieutenant Bath and would indicate that he is buried elsewhere within the churchyard. Please note, however, that the installation of this headstone will need to be fitted into our existing Works Schedule. Due to the large number of headstones that we are replacing due to reasons such as the passage of time, pollution and variation in the quality of stone originally used to mark some graves, this process can take some considerable time. I hope that this information proves to be welcoming and please be reassured that we will commemorate Lieutenant Bath in perpetuity.
