Irish soldiers at Siege of Jadotville 1961.

Has any one found the name James traynor in there searches it' my grandad 2nd motor sqaudron company a 808527

 

Just joined today and I had collected the following articles and film reviews May 2016-September 2017. On a quick scan they do not appear here.

My Grandad Kevin O’Neill was in the Congo 60,61 and 63. I love hearing his old stories, if anyone can make a connection to him.

That article mentions an earlier terrible event at Niemba. Some further detail is at:

which offers an expanded gist of perceived effects in Ireland. It would be fair and understandable to reflect that Niemba remains prominent in the minds of Irish soldiers today. I can only surmise that it also had a bearing on senior Irish military appraisals and decisions during and after Jadotville.
