Yesterday, 17 January 2018, was the seventy-fifth anniversary of the death of Sgt 'Teddy' SILLITOE, and his pilot, Sergeant John Charles WARBURTON. WARBURTON is buried at St. Augustine's Church at Heanton Punchardon, and I am visiting to place a memorial cross on his grave (the weather and work prevented this yesterday). I have written a booklet titled: 'The Last Flight of Beaufighter T.5322' as part of a larger project about No. 235 Squadron while it was based at R.A.F. Chivenor. If you are interested, you are welcome to contact me through my website at: www.BritishMilitaryHistory.co.uk

We have investigated the WARBURTON twins, but we believe that John C is a John Collier WARBURTON, and not John Charles.
There is no next of kin on the CWGC website, and we can find no record of birth, or probate record for him. I feel it is possible that he either was an orphan, a Barnardo's boy, or was a British subject who lived overseas and came to the U.K. in early 1940. His service number shows that he enlisted at Euston sometime after April 1940. If you can help identify Sgt J. C. WARBURTON, I would be grateful.

as John is not a relative, we wont be able to get his service record.
Confirmed twin is John Collier Warburton who died in 1998 so not our man

Apply for the records of someone who's deceased
You can apply for a copy of someone else’s service records if any of the following apply:

    • you’re their immediate next of kin, for example their spouse or parent
    • you’ve got consent from their immediate next of kin
    • you have a general research interest - you’ll only have access to limited information, unless they died more than 25 years ago
You need to know the person’s full name, date of birth and service number.

Only two John C Warburtons born in England/Wales during the relevant period:

    Births Jun 1921
    WARBURTON John C Shaw Salford 8d 146

    Births Dec 1921
    Warburton John C Collier Chorlton 8c 1233

No 2 has been eliminated, so....

With your info, re mothers maiden name Shaw, I have now found a John Charles Warburton wih next to no info on ancestry, and am following up. That's very kind to order a death certificate. We are going on Monday next week to try and locate the crash site with local information we have, and will upload our file when finished
