hi, any ideal if there is a regimental museum? i need to have a peak at the ww2 diaries if poss and ask a few questions about my grandad, cant seem to find a solid answer cheers all
hello If you post his service records it might help forum members to add more( i have seen you other posts from a while back) what further info are you after? Also members on here offer a war diary copy service from Kew for a very good fee, that might be the way to go regards Clive
Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum (by Chartwell House) is the closest to a Regimental museum. War Diaries with Appendectomies are in Kew. What unit are you looking at etc? [Was going to edit that autocorrect typo but... it is just a beaut.]
previous attempts kinda fell on the back burner tbh, so what we know is when he was recalled back to the colours when he went over with the BEF when he went on leave and went back when he was posted missing and what pow camp he ended up at BUT what we would like to know is , is it poss to find out what company and platoon he was in, there fore knowing in more detail what he got up to and what events led to his capture( we know he flagged down a truck , but unlike sir john mills this one was a jerry truck)
That is very vague. Did you request his Service Records - that should have his Battalion in there, which is the key to maybe getting anywhere.
