Lindsay - I just noticed the text you posted in your Gallery - which looks like a caption to a photograph.

Would this be the picture belonging to it:

This picture was taken in the opening phase of Operation Blockbuster, the Canadian 2nd Corps attack against the Hochwald on 26 Feb 1945.

This is not your man; found the official caption to the picture, which says it is Trooper McEachern of the South Alberta Regiment. Sorry :(

Stolpi. The first pic you posted is

Trooper J.L.Dumouchelle and Cpl W.L. Corn cleaning the Sherman tank of the Fort Garry Horse as a monument in Fort Garry Park, Doetinchem, Netherlands, 22 Nov 1945

    as in your thread here

Lindsay. Maybe it would be best to obtain your Grandfather's war records first to ascertain exactly where he served, as the Fort Garry Horse's battle honours are immense.

    The Second World War.
    Normandy Landing,Caen,Carpiquet,Falaise,Falaise Road,The Laison,Boulogne, 1944
    Antwerp-Turnhout Canal,The Scheldt,Woensdrecht,The Rhineland,Goch-Calcar Road
The Hochwald, Groningen Oldenburg. North-West Europe 1944–1945.

    Facta non verba.

My family & I came across more photo's of my Grandfathers time away at war.

My Grandfather was an extremely talented guitarist here at home..... (His guitar still remains in the family)!!!

-Post card was found mixed in with a bunch of reminiscing photo's, of my fathers younger day's. ..... The only info I think to know on it, is that it celebrated the ending.

One of the reasons why recovery crews also never spoke too much about their experience.
