Is there any sort of index by location (other than 'Caen' being the title of every photo from the coast to Falaise) for these images? I want to avoid re-inventing the wheel and I just have not got the time to view every single image in the hope I recognise something.
I am really only interested in Commonwealth actions June-Aug 1944 and though I can follow runs that start and end at Caen very easily I no longer am going to plot runs just because I can. I did when they first came out and as most of the runs were over areas that never saw any action I was simply wasting my time.

This is some of the frames where I know the area and thus can identify by sight.

    Hi,

I'm not aware of an in-depth index like you have in mind. You can use the finding aid to search by squadron/sortie, featured cities/areas, date and box numbers. I find it only includes a certain number of featured cities and areas. As well some of the boxes are quite large and cover wide areas that go well beyond the location(s) named in the box. Sometimes the runs line up nicely with an overlap and sometimes they don't.

I checked out "Box 0307 - 288" from which you built one of your composites and noticed it was fairly small. Sadly it has many missing images going by the numbers which jump around quite a bit.

I'm mostly interested in the areas the British Airborne were located and travelled through so I'm not very familiar with the places shown in your composites. Sorry I can't help more.

    Regards ...

    M,

I found a Laurier PDF in a folder which documents the plotting of boxes. It's too large to upload here so will try to send by email.
