brilliant link Idler, liked her description of the V1's going past. RCG I'll go and have a look at your link. I've posted Naomi's other pictures in the Gallery. Theres more of the same building, but mainly the front entrance. Thanks to you all for your time and input. (P.S. has there ever been a study conducted on the long term health of ordnance workers?)
This is probably the most interesting document I've discovered on Naomi. It comes from a MI5 file that was held on my great uncle due to his involvement in the Spanish Civil War. Was surprised the file went on until into the 1950's but was surprised to find Naomi and my Gran mentioned in it during the WW2 era.
My aunt wrote on the back of this photo (and I've no idea where this was taken) "This looks like some Belsen Beauties. I know I'm no Betty Grable, but I am a bit fatter, especially around the legs!!
"This is a few of my room mates being matey. Top row Left to Right Pam, Mac, Dorothy. Bottom Row L to R Mavis, me, Corrina, Minnie, Jean & Peggy. Margaret took this one."
"With love from Nicky, Jeanne & Isobel. This is blooming awful, but nevertheless you're getting it" I researched and found that the Stationery sign in the background is from a shop that was in Preston.
"Monica, her boyfriend Dick, and yours truly. We look as if we are holding each other up, but we are not as bad as that"
"Margaret & I looking like we had Spring Fever" Photo damaged - it's a shame Naomi didn't give surnames on any of the photos and without her service record totally stumped where it is.
With the aid of a Facebook page the barracks have been identified and its Chilwell and the building is still there today.
Hello Amberdog, I think the Peggy referred to in this photo is actually my Great Auntie who was commonly known as Peggy. I have compared some of my pics and think it is her. Thanks for sharing this, any chance you can get a sharper scan of this photo so the I can zoom it in and see it clearer. Many thanks Ian
Hi Ian, I did wonder if that was your Peggy in the group photo. I'll try and persuad my other half to rescan it to make it clearer, but I'm currently in the dog house for my WW2/family history researching. It didn't go down well when I pointed out that my computer time pales into insignificance when it came to his game playing time on the computer hee hee.
