Robyn, I also pass on a very warm welcome to the forum, my father was 56 Recce, Sergeant Gilbert (Tony) Anthony, 15 Troop, C Squadron, he served throughout from North Africa to Austria. Your father and I sent the occasional emails and I obtained a copy of his book from him, which he inscribed for me.
    Very best wishes

Thank you Tony :) It's so nice to be here with other sons/daughters of 56 Recce men. And I am very happy if anyone was able to find dad's book helpful in their own quest for info on their dad's regiment. The book and website gave dad a few very exciting years as he met up with and corresponded with other WWII veterans. He had Parkinson's Disease but his life was so exciting to him at that time, the illness didn't slow him down for a long time. He died on December 2nd/2012, and my husband, who had worked for several years putting the book together and writing all the history tie-ins etc, died the next day after dad.
I have a little shop selling women's fashions....yet in my home town where they know me, they still come in looking for dad's book. Keeping his memory alive....
    cheers,
    Robyn
Ps...I shall look through all the 56 Recce info on this forum...looking forward to all albums, diaries, photographs etc. :)

Robyn, so sorry to hear about how 2012 ended for you. Yes, both the book and the website were great inspirations for me to research the regiment’s history and I also have a lot of people to thank on this forum.

My father died in 1995, and, like many did not speak much of his experiences, so to be able to get, even a small understanding of his experiences has been rewarding. You will come across quite a few 56 Recce offsprings, I am sure they will introduce themselves.

There is a lot of knowledge about on here and people go to great lengths to assist those seeking information.

    Hi Robyn.
Thank you for your lovely comment/likes on my Album pages.
It is lovely to have you here and of course we have been messaging about Frank Barratt and his late wife Kay, and how you came to England to meet them.
I also have your late father's book, bought second-hand a few years ago, inscribed to someone called 'Pierre' ;).
