Troop Sgt. Ronald Tee 56th Recce Regt WWII One of my favourite WW2 memoirs is that of Ron Tee, formerly of the 78th Div. When I first got interested in "Blogs" I was most impressed by the site that Ron's family set up to honour his wartime experiences which went under the title of "A British soldier remembers" For whatever reason, the link that took me to his site no longer functions and naturally this gives me cause for concern. If anyone has news of Ron I would be most obliged for details. Many thanks Ron
Hi Ron, googled and found several references to him, including this one at Canadian veteran affairs where he gave an interview. Might have some luck if you contact them. Its a starting point if nothing else. Detail Page - Veterans Affairs Canada regards Richard
Richard Thanks for that info. I have e-mailed them to see if they can help Brian You too Sir ! Best wishes Ron
Hi Ron, is this the page whose link was broken? A British Soldier Remembers - 56th Reconnaissance Regiment d
That's him Diane, I tried to find that site but couldn't either. It is a good one. Ron, check your Pm, I think I found his phone number.
Hi Diane Well done ! That is indeed the site I was looking for Many thanks to you and everyone who have helped Cheers Ron
Ron which browser are you using? A bit late for this shout I know but if you're using firefox there's a handy little add-on called "Scrapbook" which allows you to save web pages in their entirity, even entire sites if you really need to. These can then be saved and read at your leisure.
Wotnochad Thanks for the tip but I use Internet Explorer/Outlook Express. I normally have no problems but this was a straightforward broken link. I am a great believer (and user) of GOOGLE's Desktop and PICASSA 2 ( as I have about 39,000 jpgs stored on my hard disk ) Cheers Ron
I would much appreciate a workable link to Ron Tee's "A British soldier remembers" that used to dwell on Geocities. Many thanks Ron
Here you go Ron http://web.archive.org/web/20071102080833/www.britishsoldier.com/56index.htm Cheers Paul

Hooray for the Wayback Machine. Internet Archive Wayback Machine There are website copiers out there - possibly slightly dodgy in terms of copyright etc. but I keep a few copies of sites that I fear will fall off the web one day using HTTrack Website Copier - Offline Browser Not half bad.
Adam If I can beg a few minutes of your time ? For the benefit of myself, and I am sure many others, in simple layman's terms, what is the ethos behind the Wayback Machine, who run's it and how does it decide which sites to archive ? Many thanks Ron
If I could add the following? The wayback machine is one of the services offered by the very good people at the internet archive.org Internet Archive: About IA It's were you can find the late and very much missed Regiments.org website in it's archived form. Jonathan
So glad you all enjoyed dad's site. I'm sad to say he passed away in December 2012 at the age of 93. Robyn (Ron's daughter)
Robyn Holt May I offer my belated condolences to you and your family on your grievous loss. I held your father in the highest esteem and he certainly inspired me to post so much of my own ww2 history online. My very best regards Ron
Hi Robyn welcome to the forum, great to have another 56 Recce on board. Your father was instrumental in helping me obtain a Recce Cap Badge. My father was also 56 Recce HQ Sqn. If you look at my albums I have posted 56 Recce's War diaries. I also have a signed copy of his book. I just updated a posting I made about your father. http://ww2talk.com/index.php?threads/56th-reconnaissance-corps.12237/page-28#post-683895 Cheers Paul
