Trying to make contact with Spidge concerning P/O Crawley, on behalf of a Dutch archivist who is researching in the Oosterhout area.
Have you clicked on your username and opened up 'Conversations' - thats probably the best way to contact him quickly TD
Peter Clare posted this information several years ago and I quote._ "ASHFIELD, LESLIE JAMES 40198 Flying Officer (Pilot) 15/05/1940 CRAWLEY, CHARLES DOUGLAS 41380 Pilot Officer (Pilot) 15/05/1940 McKINLAY, FRANCIS WALLACE 581187 Sergeant (Obs.) 15/05/1940 PRESTON, FRANK 551160 Corporal (W. Op./Air Gnr.) 15/05/1940 44 Squadron Hampden I P4286 KM- Op. Breda Took off Waddington. Crashed at Oosterhout (Noord-Brabant) 8 km NE of Breda, Holland."
Thanks for the reply. What I am hoping to do is to set up a line of communication between Spidge and my Dutch archivist friend domiciled in Oosterhout who has an interest in P/O Crawley.
Doesn't look as if his RAAF files have been digitised yet. They can be done for a small fee, I believe and would then be available soon after. Date of Birth given as 12 January 1916
I had been reliably informed, that the small fee is no longer small, but now a whopping $69 AUS. Having heard this, i have taken a look at the copying charges at the NAA, and from 24th Oct 2017 anything up to 10 pages is now $25.35 AUS, 11 to 100 pages = $69 AUS, and 101 to 400 pages = $214 AUS.
