Can anyone provide any summary information relating to the movements of 1 Div Sigs. from 22/12/45 to 02/07/1947 as I am looking to include them in a celebration of my Dad's life at his funeral next week. The last piece of information I have on his service record is that he emabarked SS Vollendam on 07/11/1945 (disembarking 11/11/1945?) and was with 1 Div Sigs 22/12/1945.

I know this is post war but thought someone might have the knowledge and would be able to help me due to my tight timescales.

Any help would be much apprecaited

    Regards

    Pete

Not much to offer, however from "The Royal Corps of Signals - A History of its Antecedents and Development (circa 1800-1955) by Major-General RFH Nalder CD OBE" quote:

1st Infantry Divisional Signals in 1945 moved to Palestine for refitting and assumed internal security in Damascus and Palestine during the year. In 1946, as 1st Infantry Divisional Signal Regiment, it was moved to Eqypt. Here it served until 1955, when the greater part was used to form Cyprus District Signal Regiment.

That is about the level I need, as it is only a short passage about that element of his life, so thanks you very much.

Sorry I can't help but give the Corps Museum at Blandford a ring, I'm sure they'd be able to help you out if you want a little more info.
