The book is pretty comprehensive and contains quite a few photos and very interesting factual memorabilia.
In 1994 Henry Morris produced an addendum, filling in the blanks with information that was not available at the time of the original book.
However, if you decide not to purchase either, I am happy to look up any name for yourself or indeed any other interested member.
    Best regards

Hi all, I was just reading through this thread and like you all can't believe that people do this. I remember when about 10 years ago in banbury the childrens graveyard was vandalised by a group of local kids. The anguish this put the parents through was heartbreaking. I just don't understand what motivates people to do this sort of thing!

On a side note, I was recently visiting the Bengahzi war cementary in Libya. Four local youths (I'd say early 20's) came in and started posing with scarves around their faces like gansters and as if they were saluting Hitler in front of the gravestones and taking pictures. Thankfully the caretaker asked them to leave, whether or not it was our presence that set them off I am unsure. But I would like to be quick to point out that the graveyard is beautifully looked after by the care taker and his wife and this was the only time I saw anything like this. The majority of libyan people I have met are very friendly and helpful.

Ron, thanks for that, the edition im intrested in is a 2009 hardback copy so hopefully will contain the addendum you mention will enquire as to its availability with Helion. Also while looking through the catalogue again (fatal mistake costs me more money every time I look at it;)). I found a book called Fighting Back;Anglo Jewry's Contribution In The Second World War, the book is by Martin Sugarman, who was involved in the We Will Remember Them book, this covers service in the Spanish civil War Paratroops at Arnhem-this is of particular intrest and will gel nicely with the Jews at arnhem website and the service by many German Jews in 21 INDP COY( which is covered in the history Leading The Way To Arnhem),also Auxilary services of Civil Defence, Bletchley Park and Jewish Palestine volunteers from Israel. So my next question has to be do you know of this book? the two books seem to be a worthy litery contribution to the Jewish participation in WW2 and opens up for me a little explored areea of the war, regards Jason

I have to admit that Martin & I go back a fair way and, in his role as Archivist to AJEX, I have shamelessly picked his brains many a time when I have been looking for collabarative info on matters relating to Jewish service activity in WW2. He was of particular help to me when in 1995 I was researching the death in action of my late brother who was an air-gunner in the RAF.

In addition, Martin has also a great interest in the Great War and is widely acknowledged as an expert on the origins of the Jewish Brigade.

While the BBC Archives were being assembled I was pleased to be able to post some of his smaller pieces and you might find these links of interest:
    33. * Jack Nissenthall- The VC Hero Who Never Was: Part 2 (By Martin Sugarman)
    34. * No.3 (Jewish) Troop, No.10 Commando (By Martin Sugarman)
    35. * Two Jewish Heroines of the SOE Part 1 (By Martin Sugarman)
    36. * Two Jewish Heroines of the SOE Part 2 (By Martin Sugarman)
    37. * Two Jewish Heroines of the SOE Part 3 (By Martin Sugarman)
    38. * Two Jewish Heroines of the SOE Part 4 (By Martin Sugarman)
    39. * A Jewish Hero in the SOE Part 1 (By Martin Sugarman)
    40. * A Jewish Hero in the SOE Part 2 (By Martin Sugarman)
    41. * Jack Nissenthall - The VC Hero Who Never Was (Part 1a) (By Martin Sugarman)
    42. * Jack Nissenthall - The VC Hero Who Never Was (Part 1b) (By Martin Sugarman)

I confess that I have yet to read either of the two books you mention but have no doubt that they are both well worth owning.

    Regards

    Ron

Ron, I have for a while wanted to have a chance to pick your brains when the opportunity arose and through my mentioning of one book your links to Jack Nissenthall and X Troop or no 3 Troop no 10 (inter allied) commando leads me to two others by James Leasor, the first Green Beach which tells Jack Nisenthass story ( were the bodyguards really ordered to kill him rather than let him fall into enemy hands!) and The Unknown Warrior which tells the story of a X troop member and his part in the Calais deception both are fascinating even more so when they could of been written as fiction but are true accounts of real events still shrouded in secrecy. Great links Ron thanks for those and I hope to pick your brains again soon;):D all the best, Jason

    Apologies for this late reply

I spent yesterday morning at the AJEX Jewish Military Museum (with my wife) where I was able to buy an advance copy of Martin Sugarman's "Fighting Back"

I am now in the process of studying this excellent and definitive reference book (some 474 pages) that deals with the Jewish contribution to the WW2 war effort. I would, of course, be happy to look anything up for any interested forum member.

I was delighted to see that there is a whole chapter devoted to Jack Nissenthall who was a member of my boy's club. The story had previously been aired on the BBC WW2 People's War Archives:
BBC - WW2 People's War - Jack Nissenthall - The VC Hero Who Never Was (Part 1a)

    Best regards
