Daughter and boyfriend out on the ATV this around noon today in one of my hayfields. Came across this little one. Figured about a week old. Mama not seen around, but one across the creek last night maybe. Glad haying is still a few weeks away. Almost put one thru the mower a few years ago. image000000[1].jpg

    High rise fox.
Who is the dominant species here?

The creeper is home to dozens of sparrows.
    Tasty morsels to a fox.

Perhaps it fancies a hot shower if they leave the window open.

The vines are similar to our kudzu. Do you know if it's related?

Seen the day before yesterday at the entrance to Filey St Oswald's churchyard. Quite unphased by our somewhat noisy passage at just over arms length.

House sparrow with a thing for door mirrors. Spent pretty much most of today just sat in this position on both cars. Perhaps he felt safe there.

The Foxes appear to have stopped coming into our back garden as we have blocked off the hole in the fence they come in through. This is to stop our hound escaping as Beagles are notorious escape artists. They are also wary of her as she rages at them through the window if she sees them..
The cubs have grown quickly and go elsewhere most of the night but rendezvous with the Vixen between 5 and 6 am when she grooms them before going to bed.
Whilst waiting their turn they get up to mischief and have taken to digging out an ant hill in the front the lawn that has been there for years. With the dry weather it looks like the ants have underground escape routes as the foxes are digging test pits all over the lawn in which the soil looks like sand.
Fortunately the dog has settled down and sleeps all night.
If she woke up and was let out the whole area would be awake.
    For Beagle read Bugle!
