Fantastic display! Looking at others bookcases I find myself muttering "Got it, got it. Need it Need it". thanks for sharing these images. Peter N.
Thanks Peter and I know what you mean regarding the ‘got it and need it’ when looking on this thread. I source most of my reading material from charity shops but I have been going through a dry spell recently. Not much interesting stuff out there at the moment sad to say.
Here’s my double layered effort, pretty much all RAF or POW. Doubles up as a Star Wars lego stand for the kids as well!
They are indeed! It was a 40th Birthday present to myself. Found it at the back of a charity shop and it's been signed by George Booth, who was one of the first RAF POWs (shot down on the 4th September '39).
Long time coming, but here are my Burma related books plus a few anomalies thrown in for good measure. These are in what I used to call my office, before my wife started working from home and stole it from me. Downstairs there are a few more bookshelves with more general titles:
Very nice collection. I have been skirting around the possibility of gettimg a copy of The Johnnies, on the dual grounds of general interest and the fact that the author was a Major General.
It's amazing how quickly a collection comes together. Obviously I am a bit of a one-trick pony in this context.
My office bookcase. Contains the books being used for current research. My Italian official histories. My Greek officials. Uk and Aust Officials, Norwegian and Dutch books. The downstairs bookcase, where the other books live. There are a few more bookcases in the house, but they have the light/fun reading. Pista! Jeff
332 "banker boxes" of books. They will be shipped to the Naval History and Heritage Association when I kick it.
Not so much a bookcase, but a rather pathetic shelf. The rest of my books are still in boxes in the loft, parked there from my last house move and ready for the next upheaval, whenever that may be. If I can nab myself a nice little study when we next move, the rest of the “library” will see the light of day once more. Whilst I do love the real thing, space dictates my literature buying now and so I have to confess that 99% of my purchases these days are, gulp, for my Kindle. I know, the shame, the sacrilege. If I had a pistol I would, of course, do the decent thing… So here’s my virtual bookcase:
Without specific reference to this thread, it's amazing how many households seem to have a copy of MI9: Escape and Evasion by M.R.D. Foot & J.M. Langley on one of their shelves. Perhaps it's just easy to spot with the yellow and black spine.
