This is a letter from George's nephew jock that stayed with him in wigan whilst on leave in ww2. He mentions it was especially interesting as his uncle was a Sgt Major in the last war, winning the D.C.M and MM. it's confusing us as we can't find anything about it aswell.
I mentioned in the op that the info was for a display at the veterans centre and that we had done 3 such displays already. I thought members might like to see the displays we have done as an idea of what we have planned for George Blyth. All displays are in the main hall at Wigan Armed Forces HQ. First another DCM, Cpl John Connelly of the Lancashire Fusiliers in WW1. J Donnelly by Derek Barton posted Aug 27, 2022 at 6:00 PM Next Bernard White. Bernard was a member of the HQ who sadly died last year 4 days short of his 100 Birthday. He served in 3 RTR in WW2 where he lost most of his left hand. B White by Derek Barton posted Aug 27, 2022 at 6:01 PM Finally Harry Melling, also a member of the HQ. At the time of his death last year at 101, Harry was Englands oldest submariner. They are great Derek. You and everyone involved are doing a great thing. Keeps their memories alive. Really looking forward to seeing George Blyths. Can't thank you enough for all this.
Finally got George's display in place this week. His Great Grandson Steve came today with his wife to have a look. They'll be bringing the rest of the family soon. Thanks again to everyone who helped with information and here's the results of your work: Blyth Disp1 by Derek Barton posted Mar 25, 2023 at 4:17 PM Blyth Disp2 by Derek Barton posted Mar 25, 2023 at 4:17 PM Blyth Disp3 by Derek Barton posted Mar 25, 2023 at 4:18 PM Derek
