Another regular attendee at these social gatherings was the British military attache Kenneth Strong. A trained intelligence officer, he met Goebbels and Goring at these soirees and most of the German High Command including Keitel, Rommel, Von Bock,Von Leeb and Richenau. He gained insights into the degree that nazism was permeating the the German high command and also more importantly for his later career, how their minds worked. This made him, along with his other intellectual and military knowledge, the perfect head of intelligence for Eisenhower 1942-1945.He forecast the German strength ahead of Arnhem and the Bulge attack, and tried to advise Montgomery and Bradley, to no avail.

Hi, I’ve just seen the title of this forum and wondered if someone could help. I’m researching Von Ribbentrop's visit to Northern Ireland in 1936, locally some still say there was more than the one which was publicised. I’m trying to find out more about some of the smaller details like the pilots who flew him etc as well as the more substantive engagement with the Londonderrys. Thanks, George
