Wunsche was certainly a highly regarded Waffen SS Officer who gained his fame as a Panzer Officer but like many of the top Panzer commanders he cut his teeth with the LAH Sturmgeschutz Abteilung. I interviewed his adjutant in SS Panzer Regiment 12 SS Hauptsturmfuhrer Georg Iseke at length and not surprisingly he was very complimentary regarding his personal bravery and command skills. regards Paul
Incidently Wunsche was a Leiutenant with 15th Recce, SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler during 1940 and ended up in a ditch with Dietrich when their vehicle was shot up on the way to Wormhout before the massacre took place.

Well said Za The 12th SS: The history of the Hitler Youth Panzer Division, written by Hubert Meyer, is the most arrogant and self serving book I've ever read. If you knew no history at all, you would assume by the end that they had won. No wonder our vets get so upset. The bottom line is that from an original strength of 13,000, it took the "little fish" a few months to virtually annihilate the 12th SS, notwithstanding the brilliance of Wunsche.

I wonder, why these puppets do have to be Nazi-personalities. I do not believe that such puppets are sld to children / boys but to adults. The manufacturer "Toys Hammer" says that his puppets are not made to glorify the Nazis but for historical education. Really? How do such puppets help my education?

What always amazes me about WW2 is that we were so forgiving. The man was Nazi through and through. His lot, LLSAH, committed atrosity after atrosity. As usual became a successful industrialist and lived to 81 - shame the 81 squaddies who were murdered in the Wormhoudt hut did not get the same chance. All I can see is him fainting in the pig shXX in the ditch, as he tried to back himself into a conduit, to avoid British bullets and the stink that this super Aryan hero must have emitted when he and Sepp Dietrich finally escaped after three hours of being pinned down. Sorry my father's bullets did not hit him. Maybe they can include a self assembly slurry filled ditch in which to place the doll. I will contribute.
