Remembering all those that died especially 1893637 Dvr Matthew Rawes of the 58th Field Coy, Royal Engineers. May they rest in peace.
Thanks for your post lionboxer and all the work you have done within this particular area of the Burma campaign.
These are some of the twenty seven British killed during the action at Lion Box. Still looking for the families of the others. Not just a name on a memorial anymore. Lionboxer

In addition to those already mentioned there are two others who died of wounds who have been recently found:- Sapper Frederick Hyde Royal Engineers 20th April 1944 Warrant Officer 1 Henry Milne Royal Army Ordnance Corps 7th December 1944 Lionboxer
Members of the Imphal Campaign Foundation have been to Kanglatongbi this morning and laid floral tributes at the memorial there.
This was taken in the area where William Howard died who has no known grave. We had a ceremony there three years ago and the lads continue with this.
A year has soon passed and it’s Kanglatongbi Day again. Remembering all those who fought at Lion Box seventy four years ago. This anniversary I shall be visiting the last known survivor of the battle Malcolm Connolly. For the past twenty years I have spoken with him on the phone on the 7th April, even when I was in India but this year a surprise visit to him later today is planned. Lionboxer
Can anyone help me identify the action and location where my Great Uncle Johnny West died on 15th May 44 fighting with the 2nd KOSB near Kanglatongbi
Yes I can, I have researched this action and will be standing on the ridge where your great uncle died this coming April.
Hi I have been reading some of your very interesting threads and hoped you would be able to help. I know that he is buried in Imphal after being brought from his original site at Kanglatongbi but I can't find any info on how he actually met his end. There was a lieutenant and another two privates fell on that same day and are buried along side in Imphal.
