    HI Paul,

Mate this is the photo we were chatting about the other day.. Dave added this and when I saw this I thought that Para second in on the right back row is the one we had a chat about with the ring remember..

    Cheers

    Hi Chaps,
I'm not sure if any progress has been on this photo for some while [the thread has grown somewhat, so apologies if I've missed something]. But I believe some of the faces are still not identified. If hat is the case, can I chip in a name. Captain Willie Taylor, 1st Para Brigade IO, top left. A head and shoulders shot appears on another web site showing airborne officers.
    Any thoughts

    Cheers

Hi Tom - reference the four pictures you posted on 128, again I'm not sure that I can see any response.
I think you'll find that the 4th picture is of Bill Carter. Bill was at the ceremony again in 2012. He comes from Gosport. His details are Private William Carter 5512209, Ist Parachute Battalion S Company 6 Platoon. He was wounded and taken prisoner on the 26th.
Back to the drawing board for the others. I've got 3 possible names for the RA chap and 3 for the S.Staff guy sat side by side, so I'll see if I can find them elsewhere. Otherwise, I'll post the names and see if anyone else can solve it. Regards G

I see a similarity but I'm not convinced mate. Thanks for your input though, this thread seems to have "died" lately :(

The records show him as A Carter not W Carter? Guess it was a typo on behalf of the POW records. Here is a pic of him and the rest of his platoon two days before they flew to Arnhem.

    All the best.......... :)

Saw this plea for help in the January 1948 issue of the Pegasus Journal. I wonder if he has been named?

Hi and thanks for the link. That was the site I was thinking off. I note that it now only has this pic on Taylor. There was a time last year when it had two pics, the other being the head and shoulders from the group shot in item 1. So someone had obviously connected the two faces at some point, but now had a change of heart.
I had my doubts, but thought it was at least worth offering a name to see what everyone else thought and I'm more than happy to agree with the view that Paul and you share.

So then chaps - as we are no further on, who is it?

Just spotted this pic on Camden WW2. Does any one have any ideas on unit names and also the PJI?

I now have the 3rd photo which is believed to have been taken at Spanhoe during the 4 hour delay. Anybody recognise anyone from this?

    Hi,

My great uncle was in 10 Para and died on the 2nd drop. Is your site still active? I'm trying to research him after unexpectedly finding a bundle of letters and other artefacts in an inherited house. Going to Arnhem in a few weeks on the back of this. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Paula - You might be interested in the book on 10 Para that was published a couple of years ago. It will certainly help you to identify and visit the locations around Arnhem where your Great Uncle, John Morris, fought and died. He is mentioned in the book as being a member of D Company, 18 Platoon.
