Many thanks, Tom, but I am now somewhat confused ( it doesn't always take much ). Are you saying that Ted would be entitled to :-

    The 1939/45 STAR, plus

    The Africa STAR, plus

    The Italy STAR, plus

    The Defence MEDAL and the

    1939/45 MEDAL

    Five medals in total?

    Confused of Christchurch

All is predicated on WHEN he joined 56th Div - IF Enfidaville - then he is entitled to the Africa Star if not but joined at Salerno then knock off the Africa Star only...

Hi all - I shall be flying to Rome to commence my travels on Tuesday next, so if anyone has any requests for headstone photos, please let me know soonest. I make no promises, but if I can take the desired piccies, then I will.

My route is above, but generally will be Rome to Anzio, then to Salerno, Montecassino, Riccione then back to Rome to fly home on Wed 25.

    Regards

Hi, my father was a regular soldier from the Buffs, a Warrant Officer, who was posted to the 8th. Btn. Royal Fusiliers serving with them throughout North Africa and Italy and from there to Greece. He was the CSM who held the TAC HQ at Croce Church. He was transferred to the Royal Fusiliers and remained with them until 1953 when he retired.

Sgt. Leonard Newton MM was one of my fathers men in the 8th. Btn. and he was proud of the fact that his Company was the most decorated in the Battalion (his words) He turned down two offers of a commission to stay with the company of whom he was fanatically proud.

Hi all - yes I did have a very interesting trip to Italy and returned safely. I have now got Ted's Service Records and have every intention of scanning them and posting on here, asking for help to decipher the jargon.

This retirement thing is keeping me so busy that I don't seem to get time for all the things that I want to do, plus planning the trip thro' the Canadian Rockies in September - and hopefully meet up with Tom.

    More soon

It would be great if you could meet Tom, you'll be sure of a very warm welcome. Wish I was going

All - having scanned Ted's Service Records into my PC, I was hoping to upload them onto here, but they are apparently to big - like 9.58Mb each. How does one over come this? Can anyone assist me, please?

I note that Evader called for some assistance in reducing his files to fit the forum- on 27th FEBRUARY- and has been ignored - I amuseless at that application and find this is most unusual that he is being ignored ……?

    Cheers
