Hi All, does anyone know what the 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers were doing on Boxing Day 1944? I am looking for details of death in action of Lt. William Leonard Page originally of East Surreys, then RE then 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers. He died on 26 December 1944 in Italy but I don't know in which action. Does anyone have the war diary to hand? The Northcote Parkinson history of the City of London Regiment doesn't give specific details of what 9th were doing - just states they were involved in fighting! Any help much appreciated. Thank you.
I have a copy but the member I've copied for hasn't received it yet. If no one helps I'll happily post the pages up once the forum member has had a chance to look at it properly first. Cheers Andy
Hi Andy, if you could that would be really useful as I am trying to get hold of it today. Many thanks, Daniel.
The forum member that paid for the file won't get to see it until the end of the month and I'm not comfortable sharing info that they have paid for before they see it-sorry.
Reply to Drew5233, ref request from Emanuel1940 - if I am correct and it is my Records that are required by Emanuel1940, then please go ahead and forward them onto him/her. I have arrived in Vancouver this morning and as you state not back in UK until end of month. From my point of view, there is no reason not to share these Records with another Forum Member - just glad to be able to put something back into the Forum as I have received a great deal of help from so many other Members. Many thanks everyone and attached is Lt. William 'Bill' Page both at School and in service. I still can't work out the map references - but Mazzolana gives a good indication of where they were. Thank you all, your help is very much appreciated. All the best.
