    Debz,

RV/OVS means he was sent Overseas from River Valley Camp in Singapore, not the 'main' camp of Changi.

  7. I've also found my Grand father Albert Slaughter on the list. He was liberated from Japan where they worked in a Copper mine.
In his later years a Japanese Film crew made a documentary about his liberation.

If you have not already seen this before, Albert's POW liberation questionnaire is on line here:

    Slaughter, Albert

No worries Darren. I notice that Albert would have been 100 years old in a few days time, judging by his date of birth on the questionnaire.

  11. Yes he would. He passed in 2009. So many unanswered questions

Hi, sorry took so long getting back to you...life just gets in the way of this sometimes.
    Thank you for your reply.
So if my Dad was sent over seas from river valley camp, does that mean he wasn’t at Changi. Where was he sent to overseas?
    Thanks

From file WO361/2198, introduction and page from roll. This suggests Albert Slaughter was at Havelock Road prior to embarkation, but the people making the lists, the Bureau of Record and Enquiry were 15 miles away from Singapore Town, and feeding off scraps of information.

Debz, I cant see that you have yet told us his name or any known details. We cant tell you where he was sent without at least knowing a name.
