Hello Ron, were the 4th Queen's Own Hussars part of the Desert Rats then? I posted months earlier about my dad's service and was told he wasn't with the Desert Rats. He was with the 4th QOH and captured 12-6-1942 when his tank was destroyed and he and one other man escaped and were taken prisoner by the Germans. Thanks, Irene
Hi Irene Sorry, but strictly speaking they were not Desert Rats, in the official sense. Go have a look at this website http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=700 Best regards Ron
Ron, thank you for clearing it up for me. I've printed up the new link information to refer to. Irene
Not too sure where to load this, and I'm sure it's been seen around before but just in case: Winston Churchill inspecting men of the 4th Queen's Own Hussars at Loreto aerodrome, Italy, 25th August 1944. [800x534] (media.iwm.org.uk)
