    Thanks Diane.

First time I’ve seen a duplicate questionnaire.

Wonder if they posted the second form out to his home address as he would likely be on his 3 month POW repatriation Leave within 48 hours of his arrival in U.K.?

    Hi Steve,
AndyBaldEagle very kindly sent me a batch of these years ago and I uploaded them in Gallery. I'm ashamed to say I never noticed until posting on the individual thread today.

I've no concrete explanation as to how it could've happened but wonder perhaps if the one dated 2nd May was lost at some point - it's actually got a later number franked on it and it's marked as a duplicate of the one dated 19th May....

    Thanks Diane.

I’ve previously been through all the questionnaires you’ve posted in the Gallery.

There was one for an IG who was in the same small Stalag 17B work camp as my Dad at Mistelbach, Austria. His questionnaire was dated the same date as my Dad’s - 12th May 1945.

I often wonder if he was the IG my Dad mentioned went with him scavenging for food after they had been abandoned by their German Guards in Czechoslovakia in late April 1945 after a month marching west away from the Russians.

They were caught red handed by an armed Farmer who took them to a nearby rural Police Office. My Dad said the Policeman communicated to them in broken English/sign language that they were very lucky not be shot on the spot for looting but let them go. He always said he thought the Policeman could see the end was nigh so just let them make their own way back to where they had left their column.

They were found by advancing US troops from Patton’s 3rd Army somewhere in Bohemia in early May 1945 and the column was sent back down the line to Regensberg (and issued with American uniform and kit). He returned to U.K. by air with stops at airfields at Nancy and Cherbourg, France.

    An interesting co-incidence Steve.
Exactly the reason why I'm trying to cross reference/tagging as much as possible. I don't have funds to get further source material, so making the best of what I already have.
