Do the Americans make the best training aircraft in the world or what? BBC News - Oh flip! WWII plane lands with a bump Seriously tough aircraft. I was watching that Ewan Mcgregor BOB programme with the Harvard in, they are one seriously tough looking aeroplane. They really look like they can take it. Maybe they should have got Boeing to design the Sherman. Kev Ps sorry for the Limey nomenclature
It wasn't the plane that was tough, it was the runway that was soft. Most likely. The USAAF planes had all that wide open space to land in, so they didn't need the rugged landing gear of the primary fighting force in the air, Navy and Marine aircrafts.
