Xenforo - New Forum Software & Server

Aye, chaps.
Still got the decorators in, but it looks like the transfer has gone very well.

Do poke around, but I am beginning things with quite basic forum permissions until we've wrapped our heads around the new setup. Hopefully enough for all the usual usage with fine-tuning over the coming weeks.

Gallery is now under 'Media' in the top bar.
Will be messing with that once the core is settled.

Chip in with any observations on what might be worth tweaking.

Colours and things will change a bit. Apologies if anything a bit eye-watering to start off with.

One oddity: 'New posts' only displays unread new stuff.
Once you've opened a post it drops off that list until another reply is added.
There is a button to the top right after opening 'New posts' - 'Recent posts'.
That one gives a more conventional view of recent activity and read posts - endeavouring to add it to the navigation bar.

 

Switched on auto parsed links.
One thing I really missed...
Add a link now, and it automatically uses the page title rather than the url.

eg: WW2Talk (@WW2Talk) | Twitter

 

Added 'Recent Posts' link to Navigation Bar.
Possibly the link to set on your browsers if you want to drop straight into a similar post list to the previous style:

Though the 'Watched Forums' page may be of interest to the more specifically inclined.
And 'Watched Threads' for the very specifically inclined.
- Just go to a thread or entire forum and click the Watch button to the upper right hand side.

 

Youtube a good call. Hadn't checked.
Will look into.

 

New Youtube links are working OK, and using the same format, so hopefully the old ones that aren't will either get sorted automatically as the new setup begins running it's maintenance tasks, or there's a sweep I can run manually.

 

The Smileys are untouched and basic, but I can hopefully sort that one straight away.

 

Oh, and I should say before a somewhat late slinking off:

The old Databases of Abbreviations, Booklists etc. have been mostly copied by the cunning D to Spreadsheet format and we'll see how best to get those back up soon.
I see there's a section for 'Resources', which possibly looks like it might be the spot, but some experimentation required.
