(The bit under your username on posts)
For those that haven't chosen their own via their UserCP, default user titles are generated like so:

    0-30 posts = Junior Member
    30-100 posts = Member
    100-1000 posts = Senior Member
1000-5000 posts = Very Senior Member
    5000+ posts = Legendary Member

    Anyone got any better suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Adam.

I was thinking more along the lines of "Bullshit merchant who waffles on" but have it your way !:)

I see the way this is going. Naturally I'd have to disable mod/admin custom user titles so we could be a proud part of that elite title grouping.

    How about.

    1. New.
    2. Quite Dull
    3. Dull.
    4. Duller.
    5. Really Really Dull.
    6. Remarkably boring.
    7. Strewth!
    8. Zzzzzzzzzzz,

(or just start with 'z' and add one for every hundred posts? :D )

Less offensive suggestions are naturally welcome too.

I'm sure our forumites don't want to be called 'a member' do they?

I don't mind being called a member. Anything's better than the old system of being given a rank that I hadn't earned.

Should we start off with 'Probationer' , progress through 'Amiable Eccentric' and then for the mods - 'Lunatic who has taken over the asylum':D

You know, I hadn't registered that the rank badges had gone  So, as you can tell, it doesn't matter what we are called as I don't take any notice. :p

Adam, are you on holiday or what and have too much spare time at hand? You seem to spare neither trouble nor expense to beef the forum up! (Which is great btw)

As for titles, I go for the worse the better. And no custom ones except given by mods/admins.

Yeah but you barely notice anything except a fresh drink placed in front of you or a new kind of wheel nut ...& refuse to run for buses.
Just plain languorous I call it.

Just tidying some stuff up K, while keeping my fingers crossed that the more annoying dns/access troubles some have suffered/are suffering are shaking out a bit.
And I really should point out that the expense is all Otto's.

    "The worse the better"
    Hmmm.

Instead of posting statistics you might use age. Say,

    - fartlet
    - young fart
    - middle fart
    - old fart
    - Gorgonzola

It's the "Senior" Part that is starting to worry me, but I can't remember why.

I kinda liked the rank structure, but it would have been nice to choose the branch of service. The only way I was ever going to get red tabs for certain.

Why not have two Avatars for fun for a while. Then VP could be Terry Thomas and Twiggy all at the same time.

What about ranks, like in the army. General, Sapper, Field Marshall, Luitenant etc. This is a war forum, aint it ;)

We're not doing the ranks thing again.
Anyone who suggests that again will be taken out and shot.

    0-10 = Owen hasn't really noticed yet.
    11-50 = Owen's raising an Eyebrow.
    51-150 = Owen's looking mildly irritated.
    151 - 250 = Owen's looking rather cross.
251- 350 = Owen's slamming his fist on the table.
    351-500 = Owen's cleaning his revolver.
    501- 999 = Owen cocks the hammer.
    1000 = Bang!
1000+ = Seems to have survived Owen's attention.

What about unit insignia from ww2 associated with the number of posts?

    ie.

    0-50 = a depot unit badge

    50-150 = 1 Div badge

    150-300 = 3 Div Badge

and so on through American, British, German and Russian unit insignia.

    Assuming that is possible

We've had something similar Andy, bit messy. Extra graphical stuff kind of clogged up the side-bar unnecessarily.
(And can you really imagine Ron, Brian etc. displaying any other insignia than their own... I think not  )

If it were to be graphical I'd like something like those peanut boards in pubs that gradually reveal a softcore picture as more salty snacks are ordered...
