First off all thank you for the warm welcome in my previous tread about these German documents. Though no replies were posted in this previous tread indicating that other forum members are also interested in ore ever heard about these German documents I couldn't resist to do some translating. As these documents are also part of the 53rd Welsh Divisions history it should be made possible that the documents can be read by everyone who can't read German. Because this forum is the only place I found that discusses the 53rd Welsh Division I thought it appropriate to post my findings here. Because I don't know if these documents were ever published ore used as research material I decided to translate and publish these documents myself. I also found some rare film footage about 's-Hertogenbosch filmed by a Dutch civilian just after the battle which shows battle damage in the city and British soldiers on foot and in carriers going trough the city-centre. I have translated the documents up to 22-10-44 for now and uploaded images of these documents and the film footage on my website. Check them out by navigating trough my Table of Contents Peter.
Hi Peter & welcome Probably a very big coincidence, but are you related to any van der Linden family that lived in Breda during WW2? My Mum stayed with the family of a Piet van der Linden on Spoorstraat in Breda after it was liberated. We are still very close with the children of the family and still visit them today as they are like family to us. I will enjoy looking through your website as it is extremely detailed and very interesting. Nice job. You can send me a private message if you want through this site. Tot ziens - Rob

Tot ziens - Rob Hi Rob, That's my fathers name but he and his family originate from the little village of Kaatsheuvel, probably family some where in the family tree I guess. Breda is a nice town not far from Oisterwijk, liberated by the polish troops, lots of history there. http://www.maczekmuseum.nl/ Peter.

North of Loon op Zand and those incredible woods with the sand dunes in the middle. As for Breda, it is like visiting home from home as my Mother was married there. My dad's CO was also Sector Commander of the Breda (British) Garrison for a couple of months. Keep meaning to visit the Maczek museum and the Polish cemetery, where Maczek is buried.
Hi Peter and welcome, you've created a great website, which I will revisit when time permits. Regards, Nick
Peter many thanks for this! I had seen your post but been very busy with now dissertation, university work and suchlike. I have also come into contact with a 7AD vet, lovely fellow, who I seemingly is willing to do a couple of interviews who fought at s'Hertogenbosch. I am greatly intriguied by the documents you have thusfar translated and they are of great assistance to what I will be starting work on after this Thursday! Expect a PM in the next few days. Many thanks, and the information about Brits dressed as Germans is interesting, not least that I have never heard of it before and most vets were petrified of wearing any German item and being captured in it.
Hi, just want to let you know I translated and added the German documents for October 23 here Battle for 's-Hertogenbosch, documents for 23-10-44
