    Just stumbled on this site called The Third Reich in Ruins.

    Lots and lots of then and now's from all over Germany.

    You can still see many fine stone buildings that were patched up after the war to remove the scars from the shells and shrapnel damage.

    On some buildings the stone work was left and still bears testament to the heavy fighting that occurred.

    Tom, I particularly noticed this in the Lustgarten area and around the Island of the Seven Museums. A lot of the plaster on the building's front facades contain battle scars and damage.

    Museum island area suffered like most places and like you say many battle scars are still there to be seen.

    When you take boat ride the stone sides of the canals also bear testament to the fighting.
