Coincidentally I was just on it for the first time in a long while, New posts & opening threads is definitely currently screwy. Can't access anything except Live chat which works fine.
Some work is being done on it this week - Chrs baker posted a warning at the beginning of the week. Don't know how long it will take, but not too long. Marina

I have been unable to connect to the Great War Forum today. Anyone having same problem - or is it down for maintenance? With best wishes, David
David It's been inaccessible since about 5:00 pm UK time. No prior indication of problems. Hopefully the new management will get it sorted before too long. It's not been down this long in ages. Jim EDIT - just seen Adam's post. Must go have a butchers.
There's an explanation this morning. It was knocked out by a corrupted file for several hours but is now back up and running. It was the first serious problem since founder Chris Baker's departure but seems to have been sorted out OK. However, I have found access to the forum a bit patchy for a few weeks.
Why did Chris Baker chuck it? I tend not to visit very often these days. This snip from Chris's announcement on the GWF in April explains things, I think A recent change in my personal circumstances means that I am now much less able to devote time and attention to the Forum and I decided some while ago that the time had come to move on. I faced a number of options: essentially they were to close the Forum or to find others who would pick it up. The latter is no mean undertaking for it means not only dedicating time, but the acceptance of a financial and legal burden. I am delighted that discussions with the current group of moderators have led to them accepting the challenge. Ownership of the Forum is passing to them. They will explain their position and thoughts in due course. Jim
Problems loading GWF at present. Glad to hear it's not just me, but sad that the Forum is struggling again. David
