This rather crudely made wooden box has been marked up as a "Soldiers Gift Box" and has spent most of its life in dad's shed.

Dad probably made it while in Italy (1943-46) and sent it home to my mum with a few gifts.

Although it only measures approx 9" x 8" x 6" dad seemed to have packed quite a lot into it.

The child's coat & bonnet is another mystery, as mum didn't have any children at the time.
Maybe it was dad's little joke, as in "this is what is going to happen when I get home". I guess I'll never know.
