Hi, I am looking at travelling to Marsciano next year to check out the area where my father was a POW and then an escapee holed up in the hills for nearly a year and looked after by the partisans.
Thanks to Cheryl Orton putting a blog on here in 2012 I have been able to find out about my Dad....He was 9484, Pte KCJ Ineson a New Zealander who was captured in Libya in Dec 1942 and transferred to Pg54 Fara-in-Sabina for probably about 3 months before being moved to PG115/3 at Marsciano. Things are a bit hazy as to when he moved as there is not a lot of information on his war records but according to the Red cross reports that Cheryl had it would appear that he was there in May being one of two New Zealanders amongst the South Africans.
What I would like to do is find some of the families of the people that helped him while he was an escapee in the hills...I was told that when he was repatriated with the allies he gave his boots to a family that had helped him.....I would so love to be able to meet up with the families to thank them for their part in his life but have no idea how to go about even starting to do this.

Also I am interested in visiting the area where PG54 was as well.

Any help or suggestions would be very welcome.

    Regards
    Margy

    Hello Margy,

I've sent you a private message. I can arrange to accompany you to both camps.
