Not sure if this is the right thread. I'm trying to find photos of two members of my family Horace John Markin and Sydney Osborne Markin. Horace b.17th April 1914 was a Driver in the Royal Army Service Corps (number. T/177084), he was captured as a POW, died in July 1943 in Malaya and buried at Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, Burma. Sydney b. 6th Feb 1917 was a Gunner in the 122 Field Regiment Royal Artillary (number. 952299), he was also captured as a POW and died aboard the Hufuku Maru ship on 21st September 1944. Any help finding photos of these two would be much appreciated. Kind Regards Becca
Have you applied for their service records ? - when I applied for my fathers they were returned with a small photo (passport sized) of him TD

Good luck. The Hofuku Maru also known as the Toyofuku Maru in some more formal and Japanese records, often referred to by the unwilling passengers as the "Fuku Maru". On the Cofepow website an account by a passenger who survived refers to the "Fakai Maru." When news eventually reached home that individuals had been captured by the Japanese ( a very long time after the event in most cases ) local newspapers in the United Kingdom sometimes printed a photograph attached to a news item that parents, wives, or other next-of-kin had heard that their loved one, "previously reported missing", had just been confirmed as being a prisoner of war. For further information concerning the ship's last voyage see this thread: Hofuku Maru
Once you have his records it might tell you which battery he was in and then you can start to search other sites for photos such as this one for D Battery - 122 Field Regiment Royal Artillery | COFEPOW Records first TD
