Hi, my father served as a Trooper with the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, "A" Squadron 4th Troop in Korea from December 51 to November 52. He sailed aboard MV Georgic from Liverpool & returned aboard HMT Devonshire. During Feb or March 52 he was injured in or around his Centurion tank. He spent some time in hospital in Kure, Japan before returning to the line. He survived the war but passed away in the 60's. I would be very grateful to receive any information that relates to the troops movements and experiences during this time frame. Also, any details relating to the voyages aboard the above mentioned troopships, conditions aboard & ports of call etc. Any other info would be much appreciated too. Thanks in advance, Chris
Just used Lee's search engine (PsyWar.Org ) to look up the war diaries at the National Archives. He can copy them for you as can Andy Drew5233 Tried to Copy & paste results but all went to pot. go here & search for 5 Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards Arcre British Army War Diary Search Engine - Arcre
Thanks Owen, I went to the arcre website but couldn't open the links. I'll try again later and have a look at the other search engine too. I'm new to this & didn't realise these resources existed.
You won't be able to view them online, either visit the National Archives yourself or get one of the members to copy them for you. Either way is going to cost a few quid
