Whilst carrying out research on people listed on the War Memorials for Trimley St Mary and Trimley St Martin I came across the grave of Petty Officer Royal Navy John Scott died age 60 11th August 1942
He is not listed on any of the War Memorials in the area and I have been unable to trace him on CWGC site.

I think it would be highly unusual for an NCO or other rank to use Rank details if not still serving.

Believe he was born in Ipswich (St Mary's at Stoke) in late 1881 and was living as stepson in Trimley St Mary in 1891 census aged 10?
Death is recorded for Deben Registrar Suffolk ref 4a1039

Any ideas where I can get further info on this gent please?

    Hello Martin,

Probably dosen't help but I offer just in case.
There is a John Scott's Seaman's Record held in piece ADM 188/512

Interestingly, the same man appears in another file: piece
    ADM 188/328

I would guess these records pertain to WWI and beyond but not WWII. However, these records, if the correct man, may help further your search.

    Regards
    Hugh
