Commiserations to All UK members in memory of the final settlement of the last Great Civil War to ravage this country's territories. (And happy birthday Yanks )
Its not all bad, if we had won we could have ended up with George W. Bush as PM You should not even say that in jest!
Von - That is not even funny. It is bad enough with Blair let alone Bush. I say the yanks can keep him Ross
Which is also my brother's birthday! The best comment on American independence to me comes from Her Majesty the Queen...it's on the bell tower that is Britain's Bicentennial gift to America. The speech talks about Britain learned from the American War how to rule and then transform an empire into a Commonwealth, and the two nations' shared values and alliances in war and peace. It's a great piece of reconciliation and friendship. Let's remember that British and American soldiers are serving, fighting, and dying, as allies, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo. :patriot[1]: :ukflag[1]:
Rather than start another thread, I'll recycle this one. Happy 4th July . The Colonies are Revolting.
I've never understood why July 4th is seen as the anniversary of American independence - it may have been the date of the UDI but it didn't actually gain independence until The Treaty of Paris in September 1783. Anyway, have a good one - whatever it is that you're celebrating

Happy 4th of July to our American cousins. We shouldn't forget on this side of the Atlantic that it wasn't the Yanks the British were fighting, is was more of a case of the same ole enemies( Irish,Scots etc vrs the English) just different location.Sort of taking it on Tour!

Hello Lads. Salutations ! Thanks for the sentiments. Destiny is an amazing thing, yes ? Have a safe day, folks ! Cheers, Johnnie.

Anyway, have a good one - whatever it is that you're celebrating Because that was when they decided they were not part of the Empire anymore. They then spent the remainder of the time trying to convince George III of that so that he would get those foreign troops out of the new country.
And if we hadn't been rather busy with France at the time we'd have whupped your uncivilsed backsides Have a good day peeps.
And if we hadn't been rather busy with France at the time we'd have whupped your uncivilsed backsides Have a good day peeps. TWWWWWWWPPPPPPPPPPPPP Timing is always important. Don't swat at that bumble bee and make it mad when your staring down a charging bull. But then, maybe if Ol' George the 3rd hadn't been antagonizing the French, he wouldn't have had to raise taxes to pay for the resulting war and get us all bent out of shape. We're a touchy bunch, ya know, when it comes to money.:p
I was just wondering what y'all usually do for the 4th of July (Independence Day)? It's this Sunday you know.
