WW2 patch question

Hello all, I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what this patch means. The jacket belonged to my grandfather who served in the Army during WW2

The olive green patch chest area.

I seem to recall reading the CIB was highly prized by those who earned it, understandably. However, I don't know much about US badges - what's the other one above the right breast pocket?

Several men in the 67th Field Regt were awarded American honours but were not allowed to wear them or even mention them.
Major DCL Shepherd was awarded the MC and American Silver Star at Anzio.
Captain Kerr and Cpl Hallett were warded Bronze medals (or stars) for Gallantry when trying to save casualties from a burning Jeep in Florence.

Would American soldiers have worn these awards and what would they have looked like on an American Uniform.

Aha - thanks! For the benefit of those as (previously) ignorant as me, the US oak leaf's function is like a Commonwealth bar to a medal, I suppose it equates to the rosette worn on a medal ribbon to signify multiple awards.
