    Bumping thread again.
Doubt if anyone will read it though & take the hint.

Writing as someone who has started a few threads in his time and at the risk of stating the bloody obvious, i believe that luck has a lot to do with whether a thread develops or withers on the vine.

One day, when I'm feeling a little less billious, I will count up the number of threads I have started that never even received one reply :(

Hello Ron, hope you are well? Bilious may that be a bit strong, sickly vomiting spiteful or bad tempered. Hope you mean the latter? In my case I spent about 12 months reading various threads & posts , and I've spent many Sunday morning's enjoying myself! I don't even have a mobile phone, never mind how a laptop work's. Getting there! Just about getting to know how the forum works! Carpe diem. Keep pressing them keys
    Regards Stuart.

Tags can be inserted if you are the original poster. To add them 'edit' your first post, and in the bottom right hand corner select 'Full editor' or 'More reply options', I cannot remember which exactly. At this point you can then edit the Title and add tags if you wish.

I've not had a moan for ages but if the French bloke put 5 Black Watch in his thread title I might have been able to answer his Q. I copied the diary but I can't find the bloody thread now :banghead:

Please please please put the person's name and unit in the title, especially the unit - It makes it so much easier to find a thread later when I've copied the file.

It wasn't that one Clive - I posted on the thread saying I would copy the diary.

Just some advice for any new members -
Thread titles will best attract the attention of those able to help / who have some expertise in that area, if they highlight relevant info.

    eg

When seeking details about individuals please add to the title, if known: number, name, unit, as well as detailing in your post any other info//sources you may have already accessed.

If researching someone with a CWGC entry please at least add the link to your post. (You do this once, so that everyone else looking at your thread won't have to repeat the same action.)

If researching a prisoner of war, please add: POW to the title, esp if you haven't posted in that specific sub-forum.

If researching a unit for a given day or timeframe, please also add date or year of interest.

    etc, etc.

Providing as much detail in the Title / first post means that other members won't be repeating the same tasks, searching the same sources and/or sharing info already known.

    Cheers and good luck.
