CWGC replied very quickly with my query The information on the private memorial represents the detail which the family chose to have engraved, following the casualty's burial - the information we have, is as provided after the war by the Service Authorities, and then verified by the next of kin after the war. The marker itself was inspected in April last year and found to be acceptable at that time.
