Went to Welland Steam Rally,Malvern, Worcs, today. Among the steam/traction engines there was a good show of military vehicles.Took some pictures on my mobile phone.Great day out. Graham.
Missed the military vehicles parading around the arena and the T34 driving over a car,as I was taking on board some liquid refreshment. (should be put on a charge) Graham.
Cheer's Rich, It was in absolute immaculate condition, and a credit to it's owner.Did you note the 2 rifles on the boot? The noise of the the T34 coming back to the paddock after the parade was quite deafening. As the photo shows,a coat of paint would of done it the world of good. best......Graham.
The decision about whether to repaint or not is a difficult one. I'm not such a huge fan of 'patina' (which seems to be taking over the world of old vehicles) although it has some merit where truly unique finishes have survived...but at the time they were in military use, these vehicles were almost new. That said, the Austin does look a bit 'Epoxy 2-pack' in the paint department. It's very durable but a little 'heavy' and shiny when compared with the cellulose finishes of the 1930s.
If military vehicles rocks you boat, pencil this event in your diary. A great day out for all the family. Also vintage motor cycles, classic cars, trucks, and models.and much more. Graham.
