Shortly after joining the North Irish Horse we went to Castle Martin to become familiar with newly delivered Churchill tanks. See:
    http://www.nih.ww2site.com/nih/narrative/nih1.html and
    http://www.nih.ww2site.com/nih/Articles/1-1.html

The experience there had a profound effect on the reworking of the replacement Mark Is (designated as cs1s) delivered to us prior to sailing to Italy. Ours were the only Churchills fitted with German cupolas salvaged from knocked-out Pz Mark IIIs.

Does anyone have knowledge of enemy equipment similarly used?

Just been watching the original recognition training film for the Tiger (on Bovington's 'saving the tiger' DVD) and they seem to refer to 'flat top' and 'that distinctive German Cupola' quite a lot. Just made me think of this thread and those unusually fitted Churchills.

Looking at the original question I suppose various German SPG's mounting captured Russian Guns or mounted on French chassis would fit the bill but not really adapted in the same way as the cupolas, more new products made from parts...

    Cheers,
    Adam
