Hi Everyone, I have finally finished the opening draft of my website in honour of the Chindits of 1943. This has been in the making for about 3 years now and I think I have enough material to present something of interest to those Burma buffs on the forum. It focuses on the ordinary soldier, rather than the battles and actions and is dedicated to my Grandad who died that year and especially to my Nan, who was just a fantastic lady. Let me know what you think. Chindit Chasing, Operation Longcloth 1943 - Home
Well done Steve! I know that this is the culmination of a lot of hard work and research........ and I have already saved your site to my favourites I wil be spending some time looking through it I dare say, gets under your skin eh mate
Hi Chaps, Thanks so much for all your support and kind words. I've always been slightly concerned that my angle on the subject matter is too sentimental, and so would not be of interest to the general WW2 officinardo. We shall see.
That is a fantastic site Steve. You've done a great job. And I like that you chose to focus on ordinary soldiers. It's easy to find general information about the first Chindit but much harder to find personal stories and people who took part in the operation deserved to be mentioned. I wish there are more site like this. Congrats.
Steve Have no doubt, your site is in no way 'sentimental', as I think you mean, but is a collection of sentiments drawn together through solid research. Congratulations, you have cretaed a superb piece of military history writing. Steve W.
Steve, A great Achievement. I have emailed your link to a friend of mine whose father was an officer in the Gurkhas who fought in Burma. Regards Tom
A really easy to look at site. i really like the personal aspects of different mens' stories and the use of all the material you have researched. any chance of you doing something similar for chindits 2?! well done.
Thank you so much for all your replies Chaps, I'm overwhelmed by the reaction the website is getting.
