    Typing 'Viscount' into the 'Including' box on Geoff's search engine turns up a fair few scions, along with a senior aristo or two:

    Freddy Lewin, Countess Roberts' son, killed on Chobry when she was bombed Norway, 1940. An account posted under my 1bn Irish Guards thread.
    :: CWGC ::
    Lieutenant FREDERICK ROBERTS ALEXANDER LEWIN 67054, 1st Bn., Irish Guards who died age 25 on 15 May 1940
    Son of Brigadier-General Henry Frederick Elliott Lewin, C.B., C.M.G., D.L., J.P., and of Ada Edwina Stewart Lewin, Countess Roberts, O.B.E., of Ascot, Berkshire.
    Remembered with honour BROOKWOOD MEMORIAL

    From The Times, May 25, 1940:

    Obituary - FALLEN OFFICERS
    MR. F.R.A. LEWIN

    Mr. J.H. Morgan, K.C., writes:-
    Freddy Lewin was greatly loved by all who knew him and he will be deeply mourned not only by the friends of his family, whose hearts go out to his sorrowing parents so sorely stricken, but by many humble folk in the neighbourhood of his beautiful home on the Wiltshire Downs and by many Indians of all classes and of every creed.X The last time I saw him was when, in 1937, I spent a day with him and his batter in Meerut, and the eager welcome he had received in India as the heir to the great name of "Bobs Bahadur" had done nothing to spoil a nature which was utterly unaffected and instinctively modest.X

    The son of a distinguished soldier, the grandson of one Field-Marshal and the godson of another, he had gone into the Army as one dedicated to it and predestine although by no means robust, and, as is so often the case with shy and sensitive spirits, nervous and highly strung.

    He was not only a gallant soldier but a man of intellectual gifts, and he had looked forward, before the shadows of war began to deepen, to exchanging the Army in due course for a political career, for which he had every qualification, and it is tragic to recall that he confided to a friend in those days, now so incredibly remote, his apprehension that his ultimate succession to the peerage would close the door of the House of Commons to his public-spirited hopes and ambitions.

    When the call to arms came he obeyed it cheerfully with "the frolic welcome" with which he always took the thunder no less than sunshine, and it was characteristic of his intrepid spirit that, having been temporarily invalided with a devastating attack of influenza, he rejoined his regiment to face the rigours of service when he was still far from well.X

    Strikingly handsome, with a frank, open countenance, and a most winning charm of manner, Freddy Lewin was one of those whom the gods love.
