Bomb Type Identification

    Can anybody out there help identify the bomb type in the photo attached?

    Not an SC250 - the tail fins in the photo are protected by a circular shield - a bit like

    Yeah that's what I thought. It is meant to be German but the tail fin seems non standard.

    I suppose it could be something added to the fins so that it stands upright (a base piece) and is also held in place by the tensioning wires, so a mash up if you like

    Very good point TD. If it was dropped it is likely that the tail fin would have been torn off or badly damaged.

    I rather think the base of the pictured bomb has been set in concrete which would obscure the fin supports. However the bomb in the photo does not match the illustration in Post 2. Fins do not reach up to main body as in illustrated C250 - there were however variants.

    The Four Bees Lazy Dog Bombs mk 44 Cluster Bombs are very similar.
    The US experimented with these during WW2 but they were never used.However they were used in the Korean war.
