Hi All, I might be a little bit cheeky here but if its possible could we not organize tours with members on this site. And then we all could here from and see the areas that the vets have been to. Hope this does not upset anyone.
Several members have arranged trips between themselves but it'd be too much for us to make them 'official ww2talk' tours. Legal reasons & all that.

As some of you know I work as Head Battlefield Guide for Leger Holidays. It would be quite easy to put together a group tour for this forum but for it to run, I suspect that we'd need 30+ people to join it. On top of that any proposed date wouldn't suit everyone, some may find it too costly, and of course the age old question - where do we go? It could end up being a nightmare to organise, even with the best will in the world. Having said that there's nothing to stop a few people going over in a car/cars together but be careful about organising a tour - once you start taking money from people you need all sorts of liability insurance, the correct paperwork etc. Bon chance!
Paul My dad was in 56 Recce, and at my last count there were about 20 of us on this forum, many more members relatives were in 78 Division (Battleaxe). I know it would be a nightmare to organise but wouldn't it be fun and take you as our historian?! Lesley
Hi As you know or may not know I visit tyhe battlefield of Monte Camino and surrounding areas every year (September) last year I met up with the party of 40 former Grenadiers with their wives and held a short service on the Mountain and afterwards taking a few of the "hardy" ones around to the different Company positions. Next year is the 70th anniversary of the battle as well as the Salerno landings, I will once again be visiting Camino so if anybody who had a relative who fought in the area wishes to come with me and my colleagues they are welcome. rotherfield
Hi paul I do not have the expertise to organise a large party but I can do a small party maybe 10 at a push rotherfield
Over the last year I accompanied several members for one or two days on their trip to the Rhineland (Nijmegen/Groesbeek; The Island; Veritable/Blockbuster and the Rhinecrossing). So, if anyone has plans to visit the area - just let me know. Personally I think that is the best way for members of the forum. We have plenty of members who live on WW2 battlefields, some of which have already offered to help. Nothing like local knowledge.
Another advantage is that you also learn cycling. Some battlefields/areas are best explored by bicycle - which are everywhere for rent in Holland as well as across the border in Germany.
