Charleys War was one of the best comics ever brought out about any war. It was excellent. I used to buy "Battle" every week and my Brother used to get "warlord". I certainly preferred "Battle".

    Here here.

I still remember that nasty Lieutenant Snell and was always keen for him to get what he deserved.

Another favourite of mine was "Nightmare" - the story about the Gestapo agent who followed a kid around the streets of wartime London during the blackout attempting to bump him off for some reason (can't remember why)

    Great childhood times. :p

If you go on Ebay, there are some people doing discs of comics, such as this seller, yootha. Item number: 190709940178
Maybe there is someone doing war comic bundles?

    Hi,

I was lucky enough to get "The Eagle" comic every Friday when my Father came home from working at Swan, Hunters Drawing Office.

Unfortunately we couldn't afford any more comics than my weekly fix, but I did enjoy "borrowing" mates copies of Commando :)

Heres a Link some of you may find interesting about Commando Comics

Thought I'd add my 2 cents worth here [guess it was actually around 15 cents]. Canada also had wartime comic book hero's Nevana of the northern lights was one of the premier of the group Nevanna was one of the first female sure hero's and could fly at the speed of light. Canada post issued and postage stamp in 1995 in her honour. I dont really know much about the comic strip. My moms parents were friends of the artist Adrian Dingle. He was commissioned to do many famliy portraits over the years. My mom did some of the back colouring of carton feature. and My aunt told me on our last visit that as a young girl she modelled for Dingle in her track uniform to get the athletic legs of Nevanna right.

Sgt. Fury and the howling Commandos...

Some say that the "commando Comics" are not realistic...
...they don't know about Sgt. Fury.
