What about a section under the war at home, like the Blitz, Home Guard. women at work & their role, the yanks..or is that covered in other areas....???

    I'll second that. Good idea!

It would be better to have its own section rather than under 'general' due to the size of the topic.

I agree. There was lots happening here in the UK as well as overseas. It would be worth a seperate section, as there would be great interest in this aspect of WW2.

This could include ROF radar industry military bases etc.

I disagree. Too many forums confuse people. Such threads could be included in a forum about "Western Europe". Any thing else: there's the search engine.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree Friedrich - being present on other forums I have noticed the amount of time spent searching or not searching as the case may be that can be due to lack of navigation on the forum, this is especially so of new users and people just delving in for homework for example as they have no idea where something may be.

Also depending on your web connection also you do not want to be spending hours searching a massive thread or topic

    IMHO

That would need to state; “War on the British Home Front” wouldn’t it, so people were clear they should discuss war on the home front of other countries else where?

In my opinion, as a user and an admin, is that a "war at home" forum would NOT work out for the best. Where exactly is home? For alot of you it's in the UK - but for me home is the US so as you may see war at home would be bombarded with topics from a magnitude of standpoints. It just is not specific enough and too general w/ an international audience.

I support that as well, Nick.

When we speak of Great Britain in WWII we must not forget that there were many, many Commonwealth and Dominion troops fighting as well, who also had home fronts too.

With the new country flags it would mean that participants and postings in a war home section could easily identified or possibly war ar home (Britain) war at home(France) war at home (Germany) war at home (America) etc?
    Just a thought

So why can't they be included in a 'Home Front' section? If there was a 'Home Front' section surely anyone, no matter which country they come from, can ask a question about their relevent 'Home Front'?

For example, I'm interested in the London Fire Brigade between '39 & '45 so I'd ask questions relevent to that area. But if I was from New York I might want to know about parachute manufacture in the USA.

'Home Front' doesn't mean Great Britain, it means the 'Home Front' of whichever country you want to talk about.
