Hello all, Newbie here. I'm wondering if anyone would please translate a document I found related to my grandfather's service in the Royal Artillery in WWII? The image is here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AaEPa00IHpFJWZq6EoIZ0ASGL-PzUYz1 Thanks in advance, Laura
Hi Laura Welcome. The record shows that 1734443 James William Hazlett was discharged to Z/II Reserve on 8th May 1946 and discharged at age limit in 1956. (Basically too old to be of any use in the army). Z reserve was Class Z Reserve - Wikipedia regards Robert
Hi, You will be able to get full chapter and verse on his military service if you obtain his Army service papers from U.K. MOD via this link - Get a copy of military service records Steve
I'd imagine that you used the correct spelling of his surname, but the Army used HASLETT so you may need to point that out to the MoD when applying for his Service Records. Using his Army Number 1734443 will ensure you get the right ones!! Did the family live in the Bootle area?
