was the SS-Sturmmann a rank in every ss unit, reg ect? i have a repro tunic with sturrmann rank and eagle ,collar tabs ect but i want a cuff title also, but unsure of the set up,anyone know an appropriate one?
SS Sturmmann is listed as being a Lance Corporal in my book that is giving information related to the LSSAH.
The rank of SS Sturmmann was the equivalent to the Wehrmacht Gefreiter. The equivalent British rank for a gefreiter was Lance-Corporal. This corroborates Andy in the previous post. Regards Tom
This shows the insignia you will need. Richard Underwood is a well know supplier to the re-enactment community. Welcome to Richard A Underwood Militaria
hi thanks, what about a cuff title? If you check out RU's site he has examples of all the above plus cuff title.
does this mean i would need to change my shoulder boards from standard black to LSSAH boards? nco ones with pipping for sturrmann rank?
Yes, LAH sign on shoulder, rest is according to the img James posted. (Colour on the shoulder patch according to branch). I don't know what you call 'appropriate', but there are cuff bands for many SS units. You'll find a list here.
As the saying goes, "Google is your friend". Just start a google search by "SS shoulder boards" and pick any sites as you like. If I could do it anyone can. Waffen-SS insignia here , shoulderboards here. I liked the owner's statement: We do not carry and will never carry insignia for Allgemeine SS, SD, SA, Einsatzgruppen, KZ guards, Sipo, Kripo, Orpo, Gestapo or any other political/ police/ Gaskammerfuhrers/ final solution crew insignia. This stuff brings out far too many weirdos and already have our quota of those. Besides, the owner is jewish and he has enough issues with German items as it is. Try googling "White Power". Thanks.
dazshropps this gets complicated It's about to get even a little more complicated When, with the help of other forum members, you've sorted out where to get the correct shoulder boards for your "repro tunic" would you care to return to this thread and explain to me exactly what it is that you get out of dressing up in SS uniform.............. or have I got it all wrong ? With interest Ron
